STEFKA ASENOVA
Consultant
Believing that people should be judged by their actions and not by their words, I don't like talking about myself.
But here it is inevitable. TASC is me and the visitors of this site have the right to know who stands behind it.
I will make it brief, giving only the facts. Without decorating them with personal and subjective statements that can get confused for facts.
Education-wise, I hold a PhD in Statistics from UCLouvain, Belgium, with a focus on Extreme Value Theory and its application to multivariate models with interdependent variables. I also earned an MSc in Actuarial Sciences and Quantitative Finance and a BSc in Economics and Econometrics, both from Tilburg University, The Netherlands.
In 2016, I was awarded the Johan de Witt Prize by the Royal Dutch Actuarial Society for my Master’s thesis, which applied univariate Extreme Value Theory to Value-at-Risk (VaR) estimations. Now this is subjective - I am proud of it. It was a unique experience... may be the luckiest thing ever happened to me.
I have experience in advisory roles within actuarial consulting and gained research and teaching experience during my PhD tenure at UCLouvain.
I am (almost) fluent in English and French and possess an intermediate proficiency in Dutch.
These are my core professional principles:
Rigour: Employing a meticulous, systematic, and logical approach is crucial. While real data analysis is not an exact science, greater rigour enhances the reliability and optimal use of data.
Creativity and Proactiveness: Data often reveals insights beyond the immediate problem. Exploring broader topics and leveraging state-of-the-art analytical tools enriches the consulting process.
Transparency and Knowledge Transferability: Effective research delivers a clear, trustworthy message. This is achieved by concisely and fairly presenting the research process, methods, and conclusions.
